Yo, I pwned this year.

In terms of my writing career, I mean.

According to Goodreads, I read over forty-one books and 12,713 pages (what's good?!). And that doesn't even include all the reading I did as an editor.

Stop the bus. As "editor"? When did this happen?

Well I'll tell you, but imma back it up first.

The first best-thing-ever to happen to me this year was that I got published.

Out for the world to see in Barren Magazine.

So that was Impossible Writing Goal One.

Then, I was coasting on cloud 9, rushing to put together this author website and Facebook page (ta-DA!) when I saw that Barren Magazine needed some help managing their load.

(Barren is brand-spanking new, an August 2018 baby that garnered a measley 50,000 reads in 90 days). So I sent the Executive Editor my resume and BLAMMO! The second best-thing-ever happened to me and I was taken on as a contributing editor.

Which prompted this SUPER exciting but also very silly Twitter post >>>>>>>>>

So now I'm published, got my sites set up, I'm volunteering on the editorial staff of a literary magazine reading all the things (hashtaggoals). I even have another [paid] gig lined up in January where I'll be editing content online in a freelance capacity (hashtagexperience -- WHUUUUT!).

Then I did the third best-thing-ever, which was to sign up for NaNoWriMo, the National Novel Writing Month program, during which participants are supposed to write a whole book, buuuut I settled for the goal of completing the book I've been working on for the past fifteen years.

I'm pretty sure that counts.

Now, I didn't actually meet my goal, so I have a new one (finish Draft One by the New Year), but even though I didn't #win NaNoWriMo, my sweetest of husbands ever brought me a pin to celebrate my progress. He's a good egg.

I can't wait to see where God takes me next year!
